Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare & Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveiled the new drone-based platform in New Delhi and witnessed a live demonstration of its capabilities.

The NIKA2 Kisan Medium Drone has been specifically designed to cover both the operational flexibility and the utility of the farmer. It is a multi-payload agricultural drone with a 12-litre spreading payload and a 16-litre spraying payload. One of the major features of the platform is its convenient payload change method that allows for a smooth transition between spray and spread actions. A single drone unit can carry out multiple key agricultural functions efficiently.
In addition to basic farming features, NIKA2 has several high-tech functions including fail-safe options, all-weather operations, and terrain-following controls. Its uses are not limited to traditional agriculture. It can be used in aquaculture feed distribution and other field-intensive operations.
NIKA2, equipped with terrain-following technology, is particularly appropriate for agricultural fields that extend across undulating topography. This feature has great potential for plantation areas like the tea plantation area of Shillong and Meghalaya, where steep slope conditions create stringent problems with conventional aerials and manual spraying operations. The drone adjusts its altitude to deliver consistent coverage and safer flying conditions.
