SUMMARY

JI Tech, a South Korean semiconductor and display materials manufacturer, has announced its official entry into the semiconductor materials industry in India with the Japanese trading house, CBC Group Ltd. JI Tech conducted a third-party share issuance directly to CBC in a 4.26 billion won ($3.1 million) transaction, as disclosed in a regulatory filing on the DART system on August 14, 2026. The financial payment for this stock issuance will be completed on September 16, 2026. In addition to the equity investment, both companies also signed a formal strategic agreement to mutually expand their combined advanced materials and semiconductor business.

Strategic agreement and local chain development in India

The strategic investment partnership represents a significant milestone in forming a joint footprint in the semiconductor supply chains of the region. The milestone was marked at a formal meeting of the two companies’ leaders.

After the signing ceremony, JI Tech CEO Ham Seok-heon met with CBC key executives at the ceremony for a commemorative photo to mark the launch of the strategic partnership and profile the new investment alliance between the two countries.

The partnership is expected to provide a strong boost to JI Tech’s current expansion plans in the Indian semiconductor market. This is a change in the operational model that integrates the unique local resources and expertise of both companies to form a total operating presence in the area.

JI Tech India has a significant manufacturing footprint of 40,000 square meters. This dedicated facility will host sourcing of raw materials, development of those materials, as well as high-purity refining processes geared toward the needs of semiconductor manufacturing directly under the company’s own control.

The Indian business team of around 50 industry specialists complements JI Tech’s technical manufacturing infrastructure. CBC’s responsibility in India will be identifying new customers, helping with the requisite certifications, and coordinating logistics and product distribution.

In the industry, CBC is not just a traditional product distributor; it’s a development-driven chemical trading company with extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of electronic materials, advanced optics, and special chemicals.

The merging of these strengths aims to create a comprehensive supply chain system within India, where all key components of the chain are supplied locally, from raw material sourcing to coating production, quality control, and final delivery.

Operational timeline and global leadership vision

For this domestic manufacturing model, JI Tech India is working to expand its current manufacturing facility. The subsidiary will break ground on a massive expansion of its local manufacturing plant at the end of this month and expects to finish the work by the end of June next year. This physical expansion directly correlates to the overall goal of creating readiness before a meaningful increase in regional semiconductor manufacturing operations.

The chief executive of JI Tech, Ham Seok-heon, said, “Just as CBC came on board as a shareholder because it highly valued our high-purity refining and manufacturing capabilities, JI Tech decided on this partnership because we took note of CBC’s unrivaled dominance in the Indian market and its expertise in chemicals and electronic materials. Ahead of the point when local semiconductor demand takes off in earnest, the Indian units of both companies will preemptively build out production and sales networks, and firmly secure leadership in the coming global semiconductor materials value chain.”

Conclusion

This partnership between JI Tech and CBC provides India with an extensive framework for producing and distributing semiconductors. JI Tech’s 40,000-square-meter production facility, the company’s own high-purity refining process, and the upcoming expansion project will complement CBC’s 50-specialist local workforce and local distribution network, forming an end-to-end local supply system. This strategic partnership allows both firms to share in and benefit from new opportunities within the Indian semiconductor materials market, with CBC contributing 4.26 billion won ($3.1 million) to the project through an equity stake in JI Tech.
