SUMMARY

Airwallex, a global fintech powerhouse, has now officially completed a major round of funding worth $320 million, and the company’s market value is now $11 billion. Such capital infusion reflects a significant rise from the December 2025 valuation of $8 billion, highlighting strong investor faith in the company’s growth acceleration and its niche financial services capabilities across borders. The lead investor in the funding round was Addition, a notable group of institutional investors, including Baillie Gifford, Hummingbird, QED Investors, T. Rowe Price, Hedosophia, Haun Ventures, Washington University in St. Louis and Amex Ventures.

Primary objective and integration

A key goal of this new injection of funds is to speed up the company’s next-generation financial-software powered with an artificial intelligence engine, and in particular its capabilities in autonomous finance and agentic commerce. Its newly acquired assets will be used intelligently to scale the internal engineering and product team, extend Airwallex’s global regulatory presence, and progressively enlarge direct payment infrastructure further into new global markets.

Airwallex was founded in Melbourne in 2015, with offices based in San Francisco and Singapore. Through the use of more than 85 licenses that range across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, Airwallex has developed a highly replication resistant, borderless ecosystem that can easily be deployed worldwide.

The capital raise announcement marked two key product movements by Airwallex, intended to place the company firmly ahead of the curve in the realm of back-office financial automation and intelligent digital transactions. The first major project is T:0, an entirely new, AI-powered financial platform that is in private beta, built from the ground up to enable a business to manage its full financial workflow from start to finish.

T:0 is designed to systematically automate key administrative tasks like automated bookkeeping, forecasting, tax processing, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting, significantly reducing the need for manual, extensive back-office functions. Airi, a consumer-facing agentic digital wallet designed to work alongside the payments behemoth’s Agentic Commerce Suite, is the second significant product release from the global payments leader.

Airwallex’s 14% transaction conversion lift on purchase conversion seen in digital merchants during early field test evaluations is incorporated as part of Airi’s existing proprietary one-click checkout feature. The long-term vision for the Airi consumer wallet includes the feature set list of multi-currency balances, permission controls, spend limits, and delegated agent payments all ensuring a seamless transaction loop directly secured by the company’s licensed financial architecture; operating globally.

Rapid financial growth and leadership

The major investment inflow comes after Airwallex’s aggressive financial growth during the past decade by the surge of business demand for borderless payment system automation. The company reached an annual record revenue threshold of $1.3 billion in March 2026, up an exceptional 74% from the prior year.

Its annualized transaction volume rose more than 120% from a year ago to reach an overall volume of $287 billion, a testament to the high volume of transactions being shifted onto its payment rails. Over 90% of Airwallex’s total revenue is now generated from clients using more than one product across Airwallex’s platform, which demonstrates the platform’s stickiness and strong integration into customer enterprises.

The pattern deep-focus indicates the extent to which the company has successfully managed to cross-sell its offerings financial products across border, not only by payment gateways. Airwallex, directly and indirectly, serves over 676,000 businesses globally, covering transactions in the borderless, real-time, and increasingly intelligent corporate economy.

Global finance is experiencing a historic transformation through automated intelligence and agentic networks, underscored by Jack Zhang, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Airwallex. The agentic economy wasn’t clearly defined a decade ago, but it was intentionally built on a set of licenses, settlement rails and local network integrations that would allow it to remain viable, Zhang said. The central theme of this capital round is to equip the company with the operational infrastructure it needs to enter the realm of autonomous finance, enabling merchants and consumer-facing tools to transact safely through artificial intelligence.

Lee Fixel from Addition reiterated the point that the fundamental financial infrastructure that Airwallex has built is far too complicated for any competitors to copy or replicate, from the investor’s standpoint. As AI continues to revolutionize the corporate world in a lightning-quick pace, market winners will become those who rely directly on the regulated and authenticated financial sector instead of trying to work around it, Fixel said. Their supporters see Airwallex’s ability to convert its core platform licensure into scalable, software-driven capabilities as a critical competitive edge.

Conclusion

With this $320 million fundraising milestone and its valuation exceeding $11 billion, Airwallex has become one of the most significant players in the global fintech market. With a robust presence across 85 global licenses and forward-looking AI-driven solutions, such as T:0 and Airi, the company is setting a new framework for contemporary enterprise finance.

With its strong financial numbers, such as an annualized revenue growth of 74% to $1.3 billion, the company knows its cross border capability is meeting a critical corporate demand. With a strong consumer base and solid institutional support, Airwallex is primed to move forward, providing real-time, intelligent banking solutions for hundreds of thousands of global digital enterprises to advance their quest for autonomous finance.
