SUMMARY

Bajaj Finance has acquired a 5% equity stake in TrueFan AI, a video artificial intelligence platform that it has been using at scale in its financial services operations for personalised customer engagement and video communication. This strategic investment sits under Finserv Intelligence, a specialized initiative dedicated to practical research and technological innovation set up by Bajaj Finserv.

The financial commitment is driven by robust operational performance, given the initial success within actual production environments, with Bajaj Finance having witnessed the practical implementation of the innovative tools provided by TrueFan at scale.

Leadership and production-scale utilization

Before the equity transaction, Bajaj Finance also used its artificial intelligence platform TrueFan for creating millions of video messages customized for different audiences through the fintech platform. The videos were a vital part of enabling engagement and dealer enablement. To extend this existing partnership, both parties plan to build on their existing collaboration to revolutionize financial interactions through digital engagement.

For this partnership, there are several focus areas in the future roadmap for deployment. This involves the creation of hyper-personalized marketing campaigns, in-app live avatar-based interactive support, and providing multilingual AI-based communication from different regional bases. The technology will be used to optimize dealer outreach programs, develop targeted staff training, and to simplify digital onboarding for new users.

In the context of the transaction, Rajeev Jain, Vice Chairman and Managing Director at Bajaj Finance, pointed out that Bajaj Finance was actively deploying artificial intelligence throughout its operational framework. He noted that the investment in TrueFan was based on firsthand, production-scale experience with the underlying technology.

Rajeev Jain described the deal as a pledge to strengthen and encourage the indigenous rise of AI innovation in the country. As a part of the larger strategy, this investment marks Bajaj Finance’s commitment to supporting early-stage technology-driven enterprises across the spectrum from the seed to Series B stage.

Areas of target investment include these sectors: Artificial Intelligence, CyberSecurity, Quantum Computing, Fintech, and Consumer Technology. TrueFan becomes the first startup linked to this corporate investment framework.

TrueFan’s rapid growth and financial performance

In the past few months, TrueFan has seen notable business movement and capital increase. The company raised $10 million in June in a Series A financing round co-led by Baring Private Equity Partners India and Z3 Partners.

The investment injection provided the startup with a boost in technology and market presence, positioning it as a strong competitor in enterprise software. TrueFan serves a broad deployment of more than 100 enterprise customers in a variety of industry verticals currently.

It is widely institutionalized and has notable Healthcare, Financial Institution, and Consumer Technology accounts like BharatPe, Zomato, Cipla, and HDFC Bank. Technologically, TrueFan’s systems are capable of producing localized videos at an incredible level, generating up to 500,000 localized videos per minute in over 175 languages.

TrueFan’s FY25 financial performance reflects robust economic growth amidst growing demand from enterprises for automated and localized video communication. The company recorded a 131% rise in revenue when compared to the previous year, with revenues touching ₹17.1 crore. The performance shows the business potential and scalability of its architecture of AI videos.

TrueFan is focusing on expansion into other regions besides its current Indian domestic market. The startup has indicated its intentions to grow internationally by expanding into regions such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the United States of America. With new funding from Bajaj Finance and existing demand in corporate houses, TrueFan has become a strong player in the international AI industry.
