SUMMARY

Rentomojo is an online marketplace for furniture and home appliances. Before the launch of its maiden public offering, Rentomojo secured ₹376.07 crore of anchor investor funding. The public offer shall be opened for subscription beginning on the 9th of September and shall be closed on the 11th of September. The startup allocated 93.08 lakh equity shares for anchor investors at ₹404 per share, the higher end of its price band. The market valuation of Rentomojo is approximately ₹4,200 crore at this price point.

Anchor investment breakdown

Participants in the anchor investment round included pension funds, domestic and international, insurance companies, and mutual funds. 

Other participants included Kotak ELSS Tax Saver Fund, ICICI Prudential Quality Fund, Goldman Sachs India Equity Portfolio, BlackRock Global Funds – India Fund, HDFC Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, Mirae Asset Great Consumer Fund, Bandhan Innovation Fund, HSBC Mutual Fund, Invesco India, and Motilal Oswal.

In a major share of the allotment, the domestic mutual fund received a stake of 60,41,249 shares. This allocation represented 64.90% of the total anchor portion, which was allocated to 30 schemes in 16 mutual fund units with an aggregate value of ₹244.07 crore.

Among these 12.62 lakh shares, the allocation for life insurance firms or pension funds was 12.62 lakh shares. The segment contributed 13.56% to the total sale of the anchor portion worth ₹51 crore.

IPO structure and financial performance

The company has set aside a total investment amount of ₹1,255.6 crore in its Initial Public Offering (IPO) as per the Red Herring Prospectus (RHP). The issue comprises a fresh issue and an offer for sale of 2,73 crores of shares with a face value of ₹150 crore and a face value of ₹1,105.6 crore, respectively.

The offer for sale segment includes existing institutional investors like Accel India, Edelweiss, Chiratae Ventures, ValueQuest, Madison India, GMO and the founder of the company, Geetansh Bamania. Motilal Oswal, Axis Capital and IIFL Capital Services are appointed book-running lead managers for the public issue.

There are several early investors in Rentomojo who could realize huge gains following the IPO. Select early backers are reported to be expected to observe returns of up to 152X on their shares sold through the offer for sale.

Rentomojo has shown to be financially growing since the time of unpublicization and is now listed on the market. The company’s revenue from operations grew by 45.5% year-on-year to ₹387 crore in FY26 versus FY25. On the bottom line, the company improved profitability. In FY26, its PAT increased by 142%, marking a significant surge from the previous year’s figure of ₹43.1 crore.

Conclusion

This is a significant milestone for Rentomojo as it takes public from key global and local anchor investors to secure capital of ₹376.07 crore. The anchor round includes the participation of domestic mutual funds, insurance funds and international institutional investors, which shows institutional interest in the furniture and appliance rental model. With operational revenue growth of ₹387 crore and profit growth of ₹104.2 crore in FY26, the startup is on its entry into a subscription window from September 9 to September 11 at a post-issue valuation of around ₹4,200 crore.
