Aman Gupta on Shark Tank India

SUMMARY

Aman Gupta, a prominent figure from Shark Tank India and the co-founder of boAt, has  openly shared his thoughts on his relationships with his fellow sharks throughout the show’s  five seasons. Having collaborated closely with both the original and newer investors on the  panel, Gupta provided a candid look into the changing dynamics behind the scenes.

In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, Aman Gupta acknowledged that his  interactions with the sharks have not always been seamless. He candidly admitted that he  doesn’t feel equally comfortable with every investor on the panel. “I don’t like all of them,”  he remarked, noting that while he could name names, the producers prefer he keeps that to  himself to preserve professional harmony.

Gupta mentioned that he has been advised several times against publicly singling out his  fellow sharks, even though he feels free to voice his opinions. He clarified that while there  isn’t a formal rule against it, there exists an unspoken agreement to uphold mutual respect  among the judges, as they are all part of the same ecosystem.

A Strong Connection with Namita Thapar

Among all the sharks, Aman Gupta expressed the most admiration for Namita Thapar, the  Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals. He referred to her as his favourite investor on  the show, highlighting their steadily growing professional relationship since the very first  season.

“Namita is my favourite shark. She is outstanding,” Gupta said, praising her authenticity and  approach. He noted that their connection has deepened over the years, both on and off the  show. They often collaborate on deals and share a strong alignment when evaluating startups.  Their mutual respect and synergy have led to several successful investments throughout the  seasons.

An Evolving Relationship with Anupam Mittal

Gupta also reflected on his journey with Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com,  admitting that their relationship didn’t start off on the right foot. He revealed that during the  first couple of seasons, he didn’t particularly get along with Mittal.

However, as time passed, their relationship matured significantly. Gupta shared that what  once seemed like friction has blossomed into a solid friendship. Today, the two entrepreneurs  are close enough to take family holidays together. He added that while they still engage in  spirited debates on the Shark Tank India set, it’s more about competitiveness and playful  banter rather than genuine conflict. Gupta emphasised that their relationship has steadily  evolved from season one to season five.

Cherished Memories with Ashneer Grover

Aman Gupta also reminisced about his time with Ashneer Grover, one of the original sharks  from the first season of Shark Tank India. Despite Grover’s departure from the show, Gupta  revealed that they have kept in touch.

Reflecting on their shared experiences, Gupta described season one as a remarkable time. He  noted that their on-screen chemistry and banter became iconic, with numerous memes  featuring the duo still circulating widely on social media. According to Gupta, audiences  continue to remember and relate to those moments, underscoring the impact their dynamic  had on viewers.

Conclusion

Aman Gupta’s reflections provide a unique insight into the human side of Shark Tank India,  illustrating how professional relationships can evolve over time. From strong connections and  initial differences to enduring friendships, his journey with fellow sharks highlights the  reality that collaboration, competition, and personal growth often intertwine in the  entrepreneurial landscape.
