Esri India and Autodesk Join Forces to Enhance Smart  Infrastructure Development 

Esri India, the leading provider of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology in  the country, has announced a strategic partnership with Autodesk, a global frontrunner  in design and engineering software. This collaboration aims to expedite the  development of integrated and intelligent infrastructure throughout India. By merging  Esri India’s geospatial analytics expertise with Autodesk’s Building Information  Modelling (BIM) and design tools, the partnership empowers infrastructure stakeholders  to operate within a cohesive, geo-enabled digital workflow. 

Showcasing BIM–GIS Integration at INFRAVERSE 2025 

The partnership was prominently highlighted at INFRAVERSE 2025, an industry event  organised by CS TECH Ai. During this event, Autodesk and Esri India showcased the  benefits of integrating BIM and GIS—commonly known as GeoBIM. This integration has  the potential to significantly improve infrastructure delivery across various sectors,  including water management, urban development, utilities, and transportation  networks. Technical sessions at the event illustrated how GeoBIM enhances project  coordination, boosts operational efficiency, and optimises asset performance  throughout the entire infrastructure lifecycle, from initial planning to long-term  operations.

GeoBIM facilitates the convergence of spatial intelligence with engineering and design  data, allowing teams to dismantle silos and collaborate more effectively. Agendra Kumar, Managing Director of Esri India, described the collaboration as a pivotal  move towards achieving infrastructure excellence in India. Kamolika Gupta, Vice President of Autodesk India, underscored the increasing  significance of coordinated design models, collaborative reviews, and common data  environments in delivering infrastructure projects predictably. She noted that  adherence to national-level BIM standards and digital twin initiatives would foster  greater consistency across extensive public infrastructure programmes.

From a governance perspective, Dr Bhushan Gagrani, Municipal Commissioner of the  Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), emphasised that digital governance is  now central to managing complex public infrastructure. He pointed out that aligning  engineering models with geospatial data is crucial for ensuring transparency, scalability,  and accountability in large public-sector projects. 

The Role of Domain Expertise in Implementing Digital  Technologies 

Prashant Kamat, CEO and Vice Chairman of CS TECH Ai, remarked that digital  technologies alone cannot ensure effective infrastructure governance.
