BonV Aero is an Odisha-based deep-tech drone startup that received Rs 14 crore funding after winning  the US reality TV show “Meet The Draper”. The company plans to use this funding to scale its  operations and accelerate its research & development in the deep-tech drone ecosystem. The  company won after competing against various countries including the US, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Taiwan,  and France. 

This is the first time for an Indian startup to win such a huge amount of money from a global  competition. The CEO and co-founder of Bonv Aero, Satyabrata Satpathy mentioned that one of the  known investors Tim Draper was highly impressed by the startup’s innovative solutions and vision. The  company started with seven members in 2021 and has now grown to over 40 members that operate  a manufacturing unit in Odisha, Bhubaneswar. The startup focuses on scaling up and expanding its  network across other cities including neighboring areas. The firm specializes in providing advanced  logistic drone solutions with technology to dynamically adjust paths in real-time during traffic, bad  weather conditions, and other terrain considerations. 

The startup has served the Indian Army and provided them with advanced drones capable of operating  at altitudes over 10,000 feet even amid challenging environments. Satpathy stated that this  achievement shows the potential of Odisha’s startups and the talent within the state. Co-founder of  BonV Aero, Sahoo said that after this achievement, they expect to inspire more entrepreneurs in  Odisha. The firm offers affordable and fast battery-swapping drone systems with sustainable  operations. These drones can carry a payload of 50kg with a covering range of 20 km and can fly up to  an altitude of 14,000 feet. 

The company offers carbon-free smart drones through eVTOL for cargo transports in challenging  conditions while ensuring precision and safety. The Indian drone market is expected to grow in size  and cross the $13 billion mark by 2030. This achievement shows the potential of BonV Aero to change  the landscape of Logistics and drone technology in India. According to a report by EY-FICCI, the growth  of India’s drone sector is predicted to value this sector at $23 billion by 2030.
