SUMMARY

QNu is a cybersecurity firm that specializes in the field of deep technology. QNu Labs has raised ₹200 crore through its Series A1 funding round. The National Quantum Mission (NQM) and Speciale Invest co-led this investment. Other institutional investors have participated actively in the current fundraising round, including Sony Innovation Fund, Gaja Capital, and Artha Ventures.

The latest funding round brings the total capital raised by QNu Labs to ₹375 crore, bringing the company’s funding history to a new high in the deep-tech ecosystem

Capital deployment and company background

The startup was started as an incubation project at IIT Madras. It was founded by Srinivasa Rao Aluri and Sunil Gupta in 2016. The company has become a pioneer in providing quantum-safe security solutions and offering platform and infrastructure solutions enabling customers to use advanced quantum-safe security technologies without hampering their regular business operations.

The startup has previously completed a ₹60 crore (approximately $7 million) funding round in April last year. The National Quantum Mission led the investment. QNu Labs managed to raise a total funding of $6.5 million through its pre-Series A1 fundraising round led by Ashish Kacholia of Lucky Investments in December 2023.

According to an official press release by QNu Labs, it intends to utilize the funds worth ₹200 crore to accelerate research and development, enhance technology strengths, and grow in terms of sales and marketing.

The company intends to take a proactive role in an approved project to build the infrastructure technology backbone of India’s Quantum Secure and Sensing Networks (IQSN) under the RDI programme.

QNu Labs plans to extend its quantum-safe technology portfolio to the quantum sensing space and artificial intelligence, deploy more quantum-safe products in the critical infrastructure industry, and increase operational capacity for the quantum-safe migration on demand in the global market.

Product offerings and competitive landscape

QNu Labs delivers patented, certified, and military-grade products and solutions to clients throughout the world, protecting critical infrastructure. The company expects to expand these deployments as the market for quantum-resistant security solutions grows rapidly.

In this emerging ecosystem, startups focus on developing infrastructure and platform layers using various technologies, including Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG), Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), and cryptographic key management.

These technologically specialized architectures enable enterprise organizations to easily upgrade their current security environment without sacrificing compatibility with operational systems.

The quantum technology sector in India continues to pace out ground-breaking innovations and advancements, with an expanding network of focused deep tech ventures. Besides the startups listed in the given verticals of Quantum technologies, QNu Labs functions alongside several other startups such as Quan2D Technologies, Quanastra, PRENISHQ, QuPrayog, Dimira Technologies, and QpiAI.

The ongoing investment in businesses such as QNu Labs demonstrates the growing significance of safeguarding crucial digital resources and communication infrastructure against future risks from powerful quantum computers.

The company’s continued growth in both domestic and international markets will be crucial to delivering quantum-safe, military-grade security for enterprise customers and critical infrastructure networks globally.
