Maruti Suzuki Eeco Crosses 15 Lakh Sales Milestone in India

SUMMARY

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has made another milestone sale of its multi-utility vehicle, achieving the mark of 15 lakh unit sales of Maruti Suzuki Eeco in the Indian market. Introduced in 2010, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco has shown a growing trend since then and has been on a growth curve throughout its lifecycle in the market.

The first 5 lakh sales record was documented 8 years after the launch. The remaining 5 lakh units were sold in 5 years, and the latest sales of 5 lakh units took only 3.5 years. This is the fastest 5 lakh sales mark ever witnessed in the entire sales history of the Eeco.

Enhancement and market segmentations

Celebrating 15 lakh sales in the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki has launched a dedicated variant, the Eeco Star Edition. Originally designed to provide a more elegant and upscale look for the customer, the Eeco Star Edition features 18 unique exterior and interior accessories. These new additions will add to both the product’s exterior appearance and its cabin experience to appeal to buyers in different market segments.

The success of the Maruti Suzuki Eeco is deeply rooted in its ability to gain widespread traction in rural areas and among a variety of consumer demographics. According to data provided by the company, in FY 2025-26, 65% of its overall Eeco sales had taken place in the rural market.

The vehicle is used for a variety of functional roles throughout the country, ranging from personal vehicles to serve family transport needs, through to commercial activity and institutional utility vehicles. Customer purchasing trends show that 55% of Eeco’s customers are first-time vehicle buyers, reflecting its status as the entry-level mobility service.

More than half of those using the Eeco service are business operators and are using it as an active tool in their businesses and livelihood routines. To fill the various functional needs, the model line has found eighteen different configuration variants, comprising 5-seater and 6-seater passenger and cargo models, as well as the Tour V configuration and special ambulance variants.

Safety features and executive commentary

Engine-wise, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco runs on a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine with both petrol and S-CNG engine options. CNG engines have become popular amongst consumers, with the S-CNG models accounting for 48% of all Eeco sales in the financial year 2025-26, up from just 12% in FY 2019-20.

Passenger protection is guaranteed through a mandatory safety system, which features a driver-side airbag, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, reverse parking sensors, a high-speed alert system, and seat belt reminders.

When answering the significance of the milestone, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (SEO) of Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, highlighted that the 15 lakh target indicates the growth of customers and their faith in the vehicle.

He added that Eeco has served many purposes for its customers, from transportation within families to entrepreneurship and providing support to organizations to provide vital services. He stressed that the Eeco has established a relationship with Bharat through the 65% share of sales from rural areas in FY 2025-26.

Conclusion

The achievement of 15 lakh cumulative sales of Maruti Suzuki’s Eeco in India reflects its consistent significance and increasing market demand in the country. As a result of faster sales cycles, as seen by the sale of 5 lakh units in 3.5 years, Eeco retains its dominance thanks to the 65% sales share in rural areas, popularity among first-time buyers, and the rising trend of CNG usage.

The launch of Eeco Star Edition marks this commercial journey as the company keeps serving the mobility needs of families, businesses, and institutions across the country.
