SUMMARY

The stocks of Ather Energy saw an impressive upward movement following a significant block deal in which Hero MotoCorp raised its holdings in the firm that manufactures electric two-wheelers.

The share price began the day 2% higher at ₹1,523.70 and then continued to advance to move higher to touch a high point of ₹1,579.90, registering a rise of 7% on the NSE. The share price came close to breaking its previous 52-week high of ₹1,580 hit on August 12, 2026. Ather Energy shares closed at ₹1,564.50, up 4.6%.

Trading volume and investment

Trading volume on the exchange also climbed significantly across Ather Energy and other handle-forming companies following the strong buying interest in the company. Data from the NSE showed over 4 million shares traded by the end of the first 40 minutes of trading. This was an impressive increase from the 2.7 million shares traded in the previous session.

Presently, the number of shareholders who transacted the block does not appear to be known, but the deal is widely expected to have involved Hero MotoCorp purchasing more shares in Ather Energy in a block. Hero MotoCorp had earlier said on Thursday that it would purchase further shares of Ather Energy up to ₹17.58 billion (approximately $184.01 million). With this purchase, its ownership of the electric scooter company increased to 32.8%. Hero MotoCorp previously had a 29.88% stake as of August 25.

Stock performance and operational milestones

The new development in investment happens shortly after Ather Energy sold the Hero MotoCorp convertible warrants, valued at ₹9.60 billion, in a separate preferential allotment. The backing is payback when Ather Energy has been operating with positive signs and financial losses have been reduced.

On the back of robust sales growth, Ather Energy’s consolidated net loss narrowed to ₹51.09 crore during the June 2026 quarter. Wholesales were reported at 83,173 units for Q1, which is a strong increase of 81% from the corresponding period last year when the company had 46,078 units.

Besides financial success, Ather Energy is also aggressively growing its product ecosystem and technology platform. Currently, the company is actively working on the unveiling of the first production scooter using the all-new EL platform, which will take place on August 29, 2026, at the Ather Community Day 2026 event.

Ather Energy’s share price has been performing exceptionally well on the markets over recent periods. Over the last month alone, Ather Energy’s stock has jumped 30%. It’s over 112% higher compared to the previous year, fetching investors more than twice their investment in 2026 so far. On a longer-term basis, the counter also gained over 250% on a year-to-year basis, based on official figures from the NSE.

Conclusion

The 7% rally in Ather Energy shares reflects market confidence in the company in the wake of Hero MotoCorp’s stake purchase of up to ₹17.58 billion to become a majority shareholder. With trading volumes also increasing and consolidated net losses of ₹51.09 crore in Q1 narrowing, Ather Energy has consistently established strong financial and market movements, along with improving wholesale volume and stock price growth of more than 250% over a span of a year.

The ongoing financial backing from Hero MotoCorp further solidifies Ather Energy’s footprint in the field of electric vehicles, especially as it moves into production with its initial scooter on the newly developed EL platform at Ather Community Day 2026.
