RailTel Corporation of India (RCCI) has announced the successful raising of a major work order worth ₹38.59 crore from the Cotton Corporation of India. This is a significant project award and reflects the increasing operational footprint of the Company in the provision of critical digital infrastructure and hosting services to critical central government organizations and public enterprises throughout the country. The official announcement was released in a regulatory exchange filing outlining the terms of the agreement signed by the two groups and their modus operandi.

Operational overview and contract details

The new work order announced in the regulatory filing relates to the complete renewal of the Cloud Data Centre Hosting Services. These include the necessary hardware and software infrastructure which forms the core internal and operational platforms of the Cotton Corporation of India. 

This cloud infrastructure will be hosting critical software applications, including Oracle EBS, e-Office, BITS, Cotbiz and Kapas Kisan applications. The exact amount of the contract is ₹38,59,27,045 and the entire execution period of this comprehensive hosting service contract will extend until 14 October 2032.

Initially, Railtel Corporation of India was incorporated in the year 2000 with the primary objective of establishing a powerful national broadband, VPN, telecom and multimedia network. The establishment of this infrastructure was primarily intended for the modernization of train control and safety systems for Indian Railways. 

The organization is a Navratna, APSE, a public sector undertaking incorporated by the Government of India, with a widespread presence and a robust infrastructure base. The telecom and broadband line under RailTel traverses around 6,000 railway stations across the country, covering nearly all major commercial centres throughout the country.

Financial performance

The recent financial reporting offers a new perspective on the financial position of RailTel Corporation following the new order win. The company reported ₹65.78 crore net profit in FY27. It reflects a marginal drop of 0.48%.  The company reported a net profit of ₹66.10 crore in FY26.

The revenue from operations surged by 20.09% to ₹893.27 crore in FY27. The company reported ₹743.83 crore in revenue from operations in FY27. This indicates strong top-line growth in the company. The company’s stock on the BSE has risen following the business developments; with a BSE scan, the counter climbed by 0.59% to ₹280.65.
