ST Telemedia Global Data Centres India (STT GDC India) has signed a major commitment to invest ₹5,000 crore to improve digital infrastructure in the state of Maharashtra. STT GDC India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government. This massive capital inflow is particularly dedicated to the construction of new data centre campuses and the progressive growth of the existing ones in the major cities of Mumbai and Pune. This significant agreement was signed in Mumbai, and the event was attended by the chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, senior state government officials, and some top officials of STT GDC.

The massive investment will finance numerous key projects that will enhance the data centre capacity of STT GDC India by a wide margin. Some of the funds will be directed to the expansion of existing data centre parks in the region so that current facilities can be expanded to accommodate the increased demand. The project also involves the construction of a new campus. It is a greenfield development to be located in Palava covering a large area of 27 acres.

The technological vision of the new Palava campus is witnessed in the design requirements of the new campus, as the facility is being designed to explicitly accommodate high-performance computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-related capabilities.
