The fresh capital inflow of $100 million will be used by Pixxel to facilitate a large-scale expansion through its core competencies in hyperspectral imagery. Evolution and key operational milestones

Founded by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal, Pixxel initially expanded its core business activities around hyperspectral imaging satellites and development. Its space-tech startup mission gradually expanded to include Earth intelligence software solutions and particular systems focused on commercial and sovereign space operations.

Before this $100 million Series C round announcement, Pixxel had secured a total of $95 million in capital from a prestigious list of institutional investors, including Google, Lightspeed, Radical Ventures, Blume Ventures, growX Ventures, Glade Brook Partners and, of course, Seraphim. Of those prior deals, the firm formally closed on its Series B financing round at $60 million in December 2024.

The $100 million fundraise follows a wave of momentum in the Indian space technology sector, with Skyroot Aerospace becoming the first Indian space-tech start-up to cross the unicorn mark and reach a valuation of more than $1 billion in recent times. In the last 2 years, Pixxel has accomplished the deployment of 6 Firefly satellites and the launch of its supplemental platform, Aurora.

Commercial and institutional orders include honorable mentions from NASA and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), among many other major international clients. Internationally, Pixxel has received multiple iDEX challenges from the Ministry of Defence and is chosen to develop India’s flagship public-private constellation of Earth Observation satellites, with the IN-SPACe Programme consisting of 12 satellites.

Conclusion

With the successful completion of this $100 million Series C funding round, Pixxel positions its place in the global and Indian space-tech market. The investment is co-led by Temasek and Seraphim Space. It reflects investor confidence in Pixxel’s growth beyond its hyperspectral imaging segment to become a comprehensive provider of space intelligence solutions.
