New CTO Appointment Signals Lendi Group’s AI-Native  Ambitions
Lendi Group CTO appointment

SUMMARY

Lendi Group has elevated Devesh Maheshwari to the role of Chief Technology Officer  (CTO) as the Australian fintech firm accelerates its transition towards becoming an AI native organisation by mid-2026. The move signals the company’s growing emphasis on  artificial intelligence, platform intelligence and technology-led growth.

In his new role, Maheshwari will lead the overall technology strategy across Lendi  Group’s flagship brands, Aussie and Lendi. His responsibilities will span engineering,  platform architecture, cybersecurity and the group’s core AI initiatives, which are central  to its long-term business roadmap.

Leadership Transition and Strategic Focus

The appointment comes at a time of broader leadership changes within the Sydney headquartered company. Lendi Group co-founder Sebastian Watkins is set to take over  as Chief Executive Officer in early 2026, succeeding David Hyman. Hyman will continue  to remain involved with the business as a board member and special adviser, focusing  primarily on AI adoption and growth strategy.

Watkins said Maheshwari’s promotion reflects the critical role that technology and AI  play in shaping Lendi Group’s future. He highlighted Maheshwari’s ability to bridge  technology, product and business strategy, calling him a strong innovator who has  consistently driven progress across the organisation.

Driving an AI-Native Transformation

Lendi Group operates a fully integrated digital platform that covers property search,  buyer advocacy, mortgage broking, conveyancing and home ownership services. With

increasing competition from digital-first lenders and comparison platforms, the  company is doubling down on AI-driven workflows and data-led decision-making to stay  ahead.

The group’s AI roadmap aims to enhance how brokers, partners and customers interact  with its platform. By embedding intelligence across the property and lending lifecycle,  Lendi Group plans to improve efficiency, personalise customer experiences and  simplify complex lending processes.

Experience and Technology Leadership

Maheshwari brings deep experience in leading technology teams across regulated  industries. Prior to becoming CTO, he served as General Manager of Technology at Lendi  Group, where he oversaw platform development, delivery and operational technology  functions.

He has previously held senior CIO and CTO roles and is known for leading large-scale  digital and cultural transformations. The company describes him as a strategic leader  focused on delivering tangible business value through modern technology and  innovation.

With this promotion, Maheshwari will play a key role in decisions related to AI  governance, cybersecurity and platform architecture—areas that are increasingly under  regulatory and industry scrutiny as digital lending platforms grow more sophisticated.

Vision for the Next Phase

Commenting on his appointment, Maheshwari said the timing aligns with a pivotal  phase in Lendi Group’s journey. He emphasised that becoming AI-native is not just  about deploying new tools, but about fundamentally rethinking how value is created  across the ecosystem.

Lendi Group currently supports around 1,350 brokers through more than 215 retail  locations nationwide and manages a home loan book exceeding $107 billion. The  company employs close to 1,000 people across its operations.

Looking ahead, Maheshwari said the focus will be on building an intelligent platform  that anticipates customer needs, reduces complexity and enhances outcomes across  the entire property and home loan journey—while maintaining high standards of  security, trust and reliability.
