Large-scale growth initiatives in Bokaro and Burnpur 

At the IISCO Steel Plant in Burnpur, West Bengal, SAIL is carrying out a significant  capacity expansion as part of its modernization and expansion plan. The project’s goal is to  increase crude steel production capacity from the current 2.5 million tonnes per year (MTPA)  to 6.5 MTPA. 

For a number of crucial process units, L&T’s M&M division has been given full engineering,  procurement, and installation scope under this initiative. These consist of the Basic Oxygen  Furnace, By-Product Plant, Coke Oven Battery, and a bundle of specialized material handling  equipment.
