SUMMARY

Equal AI has officially raised $30 million in a Series B round. The large capital injection was delivered in a series of tranches and co-led by Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital. Prosus Ventures is the early-stage investment arm of Prosus. Tamales Bay Capital is a San Francisco-based global investment firm. The funding round also included a wide-ranging list of strategic backers such as Valiant Fund, Think Investments, Zubin Mittal (AirTel), and Sameer Nigam (PhonePe).

Consumer offering and leadership

The latest investment is part of a previous $10 million Series A round, which also took place in November 2024 and was led by Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital. The company’s new financial standing marks a significant appointment at a new stage of market expansion.

The leadership team at Equal AI is showing commitment to increasing the scale of its core business activities with the newly raised money. The Series B round is said to be designed to strengthen the company’s proprietary AI call assistant offering while expanding its existing service footprint into new areas.

The startup plans to grow in communication services, financial services, lifestyle, and concierge services. These adjacent spaces are where Equal AI will shape daily interactions and transform its digital structure into a transformative personal assistant.

Central to Equal AI’s consumer offering is an advanced product layer that is set to overlay directly onto a user’s phone. This software layer is designed to autonomously perform actions on the user’s behalf throughout the normal course of phone conversations.

It is capable of filtering out spam calls, figuring out who is calling, understanding what the caller is asking, and getting to work for the caller through the tasks at hand. It makes communications smoother by automatically filtering out calls that are not necessary and saving precious time.

Rapid growth and foundational vision

Equal AI has seen an explosive expansion in both its consumer and enterprise offerings since its founding. For consumers, the platform has reportedly over 1 million monthly active users and a staggering 350,000 daily active users.

The company has developed a very strong enterprise platform that supports over 350 enterprise clients. The corporate customers include financial institutions, lending institutions, insurance companies, telecom, and digital services.

This enterprise infrastructure offers direct access to more than 50 different identity databases and over 4,000 API providers. Through this broad network, Equal AI manages over 1 billion transactions per year with an outstanding Know Your Customer success rate of 97%.

Equal AI was founded in 2022 as a data-sharing and identity infrastructure company and is currently based in Bengaluru. At the heart of the enterprise was the vision that secure, consensual data sharing could unleash enormous opportunities for people in India.

In reflecting on the company’s history and most recent investment milestone, Equal AI founder Keshav Reddy said this original belief has since become two strong corporate tanks. The company has a fast-growing consumer product built around Artificial Intelligence, while its high-performance enterprise product offers a key advantage to businesses.

Conclusion

The Series B $30 million investment round into Equal AI shows how large a market there is for AI solutions that actually matter to consumers. It has seen considerable funding from top global investors, including Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital. Its approach to catering both to regular users and businesses makes it likely to experience success in the future as it introduces finance, lifestyle, and concierge services. Equal AI has transformed from a Bengaluru-based data-sharing platform to an AI-driven powerhouse that handles over a billion transactions each year.
