The Modern Pythian Games and the Scientific Research Centre of Traditional Arts and Culture of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation. The signing was a significant event for global cultural diplomacy and traditional arts and cultural preservation, taking place as part of the ongoing 6th World Nomad Games in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The historic agreement was made at the international conference connected with the World Nomad Games. 

Vision and diplomatic importance

As per the released statement, the MOU is intended to promote overall cooperation in research programs, traditional arts and culture, cultural heritage preservation, technology transfer, and trans-border cultural projects. 

The Indian national flag was also hoisted during the scientific conference, marking the depth of the cultural friendship between the people of India and Kyrgyzstan, and also the diplomatic cooperation.

In the international event, Bijender Goel, Founder of the Modern Pythian Games and Founding Secretary General of the International Pythian Council, gave a comprehensive vision of the Pythian movement. 

Goel suggested creating the Pythian Games as a cultural forum of the world that would integrate arts and traditional culture, indigenous knowledge, traditional games, youth, and the creative economy. 

Goel pointed out that the state of Kyrgyzstan is one of the leading countries when it comes to keeping and supporting nomadic tradition in the world and suggested conducting the 1st International Modern Pythian Games in this country.

Goel also offered to transfer the future seat of the International Pythian Council to Kyrgyzstan and thereby make it the international center of cultural diplomacy and traditional games. On its fundamental principles, Goel said the movement is designed to build bridges, not boundaries, and that culture is a powerful tool for friendship, dialogue and peace between nations.

The Modern Pythian Games were formed from the Prehistoric Pythian Games held at Delphi, Greece. The ancient philosophy is intended to be revived through the Modern Pythian Games by offering chances for establishing connections between artists, musicians, dancers, artisans, cultural artists, and the traditional games communities around the world.

As Goel pointed out, there is a natural connection between the Pythian Games and World Nomad Games. In addition to the idea of Pythians that unite arts, culture and traditional games, the World Nomad Games also offer an enormous international platform for the preservation of nomadic lifestyle.

Kok Boru, eagle hunting, wrestling, archery, horse riding, yurt making, and oral arts are some of the customs. The mutual compatibility between these two cultural strains offers promising benchmarks for future international connections.
