Kepler Aerospace secured $8 million in a seed funding round led by Blue Ashva Capital

Kepler Aerospace is a Bengaluru-based startup in space technology, space infrastructure, and space missions. Kepler Aerospace has raised $8 million in its seed funding round. Core technological capabilities and capital utilization
The company intends to use the fresh funds to fuel the technology pipeline and grow its business presence. The funds will be utilized towards the development and deployment of the next generation of space-based persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance capabilities.
The funds will be used to expand the mission operations and avionics-as-a-service enterprise segment, as well as to advance the deployment of the startup’s satellite hardware and ground infrastructure solutions platforms. Kepler Aerospace was established by Navneet Singh and Kiran Sharma in 2018. Navneet Singh is the chief executive officer, and Kiran Sharma is the chief strategy officer.
The two co-founders had met during their time at the Indian Space Research Organisation. Navneet Singh was associated with India’s nanosatellite program at ISRO in the time before the Canadian handover, while Kiran Sharma had done work on a nanosatellite lunar rover project at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
The startup develops and produces space and ground-based systems that can be scaled up for strategic, defense, and commercial space missions. The company has designed the technology architecture to be reliably, automatically, securely, and scalably developed. This framework enables satellite operators and mission stakeholders to launch and operate increasingly complex satellite missions while meeting the global requirements for persistent, low-latency intelligence directly from space.
Expansion plans and flagship development project
Kepler Aerospace has established two Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) schemes, awarding them two prime contracts within the defence space landscape. These contracts are related to the provision of the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) constellations to the Indian defense forces through swarming capabilities. The company’s work with the iDEX program is complemented by roughly $4 million in government funding granted in recent years.
The flagship project in this framework is the development of a constellation of 6 independent satellites forming an autonomous swarm. These satellites are different from those in traditional satellite systems, which are designed to communicate directly with each other and coordinate tasks in orbit without human intervention.
The satellites each have electro-optical, thermal, and electronic-warfare sensors to detect targets, including mobile air-defense systems and sea vessels, and instruct other cluster satellites to autonomously image and track them. The company has passed preliminary design review and mission design review, and plans for a critical design review in January, with a first launch scheduled for December 2027, for the Defence Space Agency.
Kepler Aerospace has a diversified revenue model consisting of space hardware, ground networks, and space intelligence. Its legacy businesses are satellite components such as a sub-10-gram on-board GPS system, satellite communication hardware, military avionics, and mission operations as a service via a network of over 70 ground stations.
The older satellite intelligence business is responsible for about 90% of the company’s total revenue of roughly $1 million in the past year, and the verticals inherited from legacy ventures make up the balance of the company’s revenue. Management assumes that intelligence services will grow to a 60% to 70% share of total revenue in three years as the rest of the satellite cluster enters orbit around mid-2028.
The startup has developed a proven track record of high-profile clients and enterprise partners in the defense and space supply chains. Companies such as Indian Space Research Organisation, Larsen and Toubro, Bellatrix Aerospace and Take Me To Space use its satellite hardware components.
Its military avionics products, including communication systems for the Abhyas target drone, are in use by customers like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Defence Research and Development Organisation’s Aeronautical Development Establishment. Kepler Aerospace is expanding its workforce by 40 personnel over the next 12 to 18 months to accommodate the move to a new integration and mission construction facility in the Whitefield section of Bangalore.
Conclusion
