SUMMARY

Circolife is a cooling-as-a-service startup. Circolife has raised $4.5 million (approximately ₹40.45 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round. Its funding was increased to fuel its expansion in India on a pan-Indian scale. The investment round was anchored by Bharat Jaisinghani. Bharat Jaisinghani is a Joint Managing Director of Polycab India Limited. Numerous individual investors, family offices, and leading investment companies also participated in the funding round.

Integrating AI and subscription-based business model

Nitish Mittersain, Founder of Nazara Technologies, along with Intelliquity Ventures, Sumit Jalan, Siddharth Ladsariya, Anand Ladsariya, Anant Goenka, Sky Impact Capital, and Rohit Dev, were among these investors participating in the capital raise. In addition, family offices such as S N Dimani and Vyom Wealth were also involved in the investment round to support the company in its next stage of enterprise growth.

Circolife was established with the aim of making access to commercial cooling solutions easy through a subscription model. This approach enables businesses to use cooling equipment without high upfront capital investment, while still benefiting from the service’s efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The company retains the complete ownership of cooling equipment during the contract term which is aligning the business model with long-term energy efficiency and long-lasting performance of cooling equipment. The leadership at Circolife emphasizes that the fact that they have been successful in five cities with 10,000 subscriptions indicates that the business model is working.

The co-founders further state that the capital that they have received will allow them to expand the startup nationally by growing the number of vehicles, field teams, and tech stack. The goal of the startup is to make Cooling-as-a-Service the standard way to buy cooling for businesses in India instead of treating it as an option.

Circolife is also making significant strides in AI integration and sensor technologies to further bolster its comprehensive solutions. These investments go to the development of digital twins, specifically of single cooling units and complete customer locations.

Use of these digital models will aim to optimize cooling performance, to enhance general energy efficiency and to give enhanced visibility of the system’s operation in different commercial settings.

The investors who have supported the brand have pointed out that the brand works on real technology, which discreetly monitors all of the units deployed, thereby preventing operational difficulties before they even originate.

Much of the service appears to be a basic air conditioner subscription model, but underneath is a data and intelligence layer. This layer has a compound effect by leveraging fleet data to optimize the entire physical infrastructure as the company grows.

Operational footprint and leadership

Since Circolife launched its operations in 2023, it has expanded its geographical presence in India to five cities. In this process, it has developed a customer base that includes restaurants, hotels, gyms, salons, co-living companies, and enterprise customers. It now has approximately 10,000 subscriptions active and is working to expand its total installed base by a factor of four over two years.

The newly raised capital of $4.5 million will be utilized directly to expand Circolife’s fleet of cooling units, enter new geographic markets, strengthen installation and field service capabilities, and further develop its AI-powered IoT platform. The company’s clear operational goal is to expand its active unit count to 40,000 units across the nation in the next 24 months.

Abhishek Murarka, the Chief Executive Officer of Circolife, co-founded and led the business alongside Tushar Patil, the Chief Operating Officer of Circolife, and Devanshu Mishra, Chief Technology Officer of Circolife. The core founding team is bolstered by the addition of Shalin Khanna as the Chief Digital Officer and Chief Marketing Officer.

The startup is also mentored by strategic advisor Vineet Taneja, who previously held the roles of President (APAC) for Dyson and Country Head for Samsung India. The executive team and advisors work together to lead Circolife to transform the commercial cooling infrastructure industry in the country.

Conclusion

The $4.5 million in a pre-Series A funding round is another significant milestone in Circolife’s journey to become the preferred solution for the Indian commercial cooling market. The startup has received robust financial backing from Bharat Jaisinghani and has a large pool of experienced investor support for its ambitious growth plans. Circolife’s subscription-based service, combined with artificial intelligence, IoT monitoring, and digital Twin technology, solves the long-standing issues of high CapEx and energy-intensive maintenance in the cooling sector.

With expansion of its active unit base to 40,000 ongoing over the next 24 months, Cooling-as-a-Service is poised to become a de facto standard for businesses across the country, due to its scalable, data-driven solution.
